Hanauma Bay Snorkeling
O’ahu’s Natural Ocean Sanctuary is nestled within a volcanic crater. Oahu Revealed says it’s a “MUST SEE” for snorkeling - WHY??? I HAVE NO IDEA!!! I’m guessing they are drinking the Hawaiian coolaide - cuz the fish were, in general, missing. The food was not good, the sun hot, shade limited, and the rules for this sanctualy acted like we were actually going to see something great. Oh well, Scuba diving - I’m ready! I’m guessing Hawaii makes a bit of money here.

Nested in volcanic rock I bought a snorkel shirt to keep from roasting as I'm one of those that never wants the snorkeling to end.
So hungry and the options were poor. So I had chicken fingers and french fries for breakfast - not great. I should've planned better.
Ok, here I am after the swim and snorkel. I found a handful of fish, no colorful coral, and a very hot beach with some sweet children and families but really that's all it is, a great place to bring the kids. I cleaned up, headed back, and had a nice ride back where I got back to my room by 1:30 pm. So, a nice day - but snorkeling adventure??? Not really!
Such a great entrance! But, once you get down there, it’s just a very nice beach. Snorkeling is not great by any stretch of the imagination.
